My home assist does not work properly. I have to manually set it as away every time I leave the house. Sometimes it goes back to home when both phones are away. There are no pets in the house so nothing should be setting motion off.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. To isolate the issue, could you try disabling the Nest Thermostat under "What decides if you’re home"? Please click on this link to learn more about this.
