How do I connect a Google Thermostat E with Google Nest Temperature Sensor

I recently upgrade from a Nest Thermostat to a Google Thermostat E.  Thermostat work fine BUT I'm trying to link Google Nest Temperature Sensor.  I goto to the Nest App and try to add the sensor and it says I need to have a Google Thermostat E device.  But I already have my Google Thermostat E in my Google App.  I cannot add it to my Nest app because it redirecting me to the Google App.  Also, where do I find the "Entry Key" on my Google Thermostat E setup screen.

So frustrated,   I regret upgrading to the Google Thermostat E.

Hi KLW974,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to take a closer look at it. Could you please send us a photo of your Nest Thermostat display? Also, try to restart your thermostat.

You can follow this guide to get your thermostat entry key:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Turn the ring and look for the word Nest App.
  4. Select Entry Key.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi there,

Thanks for sending the photos. Your thermostat is actually a Nest Thermostat 2020. Unfortunately, this thermostat of yours isn't compatible with the Nest Temperature Sensor. Also, you can only add this thermostat in the Google Home app. You need to have a Nest Learning Thermostat or a Nest Thermostat E to add your Nest Temperature Sensor.

Google Nest thermostats look similar, and share similar software, but there are some important differences that you’ll need to know for troubleshooting, installation and more.

You can visit this link on how to tell which Nest thermostat you have
