How do you know if the power is off when Nest has a battery?

How do you know if the power is off when Nest has a battery?  I am taking my nest E off the wall to paint and I can't find which breaker it right because the internal battery keep the Nest on.  Is there a way to disconnect the battery so I can see when it goes off?

Your power panel should have have the circuit breaker labeled.  Alternatively, if you know where your indoor air handler is, national electrical code requires there to be a power disconnect located near the air handler. Find it, turn it off and the power to your thermostat will be off as well..
