How to get discount code for retiring Nest?

KStevens172
Community Member

I just turned my furnace on and I see the notice that my Nest is being retired. It says I can get a discount on a replacement Nest but I don’t see how to get that discount. How do I do that?

@rkovelamudi , the discount email with the code that you’re looking for was emailed to the Nest Email that was registered to the device. So all you need to do is go look in your email that you have for the nest device and you will find your discount email there.

  • I have three generation two thermostats in my home and I’m having the same issue. I do not see the email you’re referring to. And yes, they’re all registered to my particular email. It’d be nice if they would send another notice. I see there’s many people on here saying they’ve got the same problem. I do they don’t know how to get the discount code

I can't locate the original email I received on replacing my generation 1 Nest thermostats. How can I get that info sent to me or contact someone. I have the seriel #s for my 3 Gerenration 1 units ?

Thanks,

Peter

What happens if you by chance did not read that email and deleted it?

Either I did not receive the email or it got lost.  How do I contact someone to resend the offer email?

The unfortunate part is I’m not finding an email and I have three generation two nest thermostats that need to be replaced. There’s a number of people on here looking for this information as well and you would think that they would have sent another email closer to the deadline. I’ve looked everywhere to try to locate how to get this information and I’m unable to find anything

i’m looking for the same information as you as I have three generation two thermostats in my house that need to be replaced. It would be great if they would have sent out another email

Never mind, I found out that the email came from "googlehome" and traced it to the discounting from the link in the email.  All good now. 👍

Thanks

Hi Angry, I have the same problem. My code also expired.  What are the other providers ? I am struggling to find one with similar functionality and reasonable price.

I have a total of 13 Thermostats within 2 homes.   Currently we see 6 that are not supported with the app.  Assuming i need to purchase new devices to be able to have control with the app, how can you send me codes or details on how to get 6 discounted, new thermostats?

I  purchased the 4th gen through this app and paid $149. That is supposed to be the discount.

We just got the new one and are reading about it now. Do you know if they are an easy install by the homeowner?

I have 2 Generation 2 thermostats.  What app did you use for your discount?

It took me there through the Nest App which I am having trouble navigating through now.

This is so irritating that they just had to make you purchase the new generation. Even Apple lets you use their old products you just don’t get all the upgrades.
They could have still allowed us to use the app just not all the new bells and whistles.

You’re not mad that they’re costing you six new thermostats? It’s a terrible business practice to hurt the early adopters and consumers that trusted in this company. forced obsolescence is it terrible business model, unless of course you buy six new thermostats from them!

Nest and Google are no help, keep sending you to the community expecting that the issue will be resolved! This AI doesn’t work, terrible customer assistance! I sent multiple emails, no one replies !

@Hersheyjones ,

You made this statement and yet in all of Google community support you have made only 2 posts.  And both posts are right here.  Perhaps a new approach is needed?

Try stating the situation you are experiencing and let one of us Product Experts assist you.

What was the exact phrase you submitted to the AI instance that did not give the response your were seeking?
What product are you struggling with? What efforts have you attempted?

There a lot of Product Experts available to help you if you could bring yourself to articulate your need more clearly.

I am definitely dumping Nest products for life, bad customer service and forcing me to upgrade so they can improve profits.

@Hersheyjones ,

Personally I am sorry you feel this way. A fully integrated Google Gemini product family is hard to give up; this I am sure of.
No other thermostat produced or available on the market today can even match the functionality of Google products especially the Google Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 4.  Think about this please. Every Google Product team is focused on making your life more productive, more convenient, and more enjoyable.  With the integration of Gemini AI the world is now unlocked to countless possibilities.  Well perhaps not for you, since you are already headed for the exit.

This is the worst experience I’ve ever had. I paid extra for network support, and then Google suddenly discontinued it and expected users to monitor emails closely to find a notification that required explicit acknowledgment. If you missed the deadline, you’re forced to buy a brand-new device.

Fine — even accepting that, the discount code expired as well.

Come on. With inboxes flooded by spam and promotions, how is a user supposed to reliably identify one critical email and take action in time? Why it is so hard for Google simply extend the offer window AT LEAST FOR THE ELIGIBLE USERS?

What makes this even worse is that customer service blamed me for not checking the app every single day to notice the device went offline. Really? Does anyone actually open a thermostat app daily? People use it only when they need to change the temperature.

There was zero effective in-app notification about this device being retired. Expecting users to catch a critical service shutdown by constantly checking the app or digging through emails is really ridiculous.

@ProhibitedNick ,

The announcement was made over the news, social media, your registered email account, and certainly “pushed” to your app.  How you managed to not see this announcement and take some kind of action seems impossible to understand.  I mean I myself saw this announcement several times in the first day and multiple times for a few weeks after.

I am sorry your spam folder is so full and that you did not have the time to search for say “google” in your spam folder.  Had you done that you would have joined those of us that now enjoy the advanced features of the Google Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 4.  Your lack of attention and a little effort is hardly the fault of Google now is it?

Do yourself a favor, go the the Google Store and get yourself the most intelligent thermostat that money can by; Google Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 4!
