Technically speaking, assuming all the wires in the photo have a function and are connected at the HVAC end, the "Nest Thermostat" is not compatible with your system. You might be able to just not use one wire and therefore not have a function like emergency or auxiliary heat. That's not ideal and not recommended.
You can check at the HVAC unit where the thermostat wire ultimately goes just to be sure each of the colored wires is connected to a terminal.
It appears you have a Heat Pump, but the thermostat also supports "conventional" like a gas furnace. Do you know which you have?

@JH123, It appears that your system would only be compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat, which has a specific terminal for emergency heat. You can also check your system’s compatibility with our online Compatibility Checker.
