Hello MLee1,

Thanks for reaching out! I know this is a major inconvenience, and I'm truly sorry for any discomfort it's caused, especially when it's cold outside. Here are the steps you should take to unlink the existing account connected and link your Nest Thermostat to your own to help you stay warm.

For the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to Settings > Reset > Account Connection.
    1. This will disconnect it from the Wi-Fi network and remove it from the account.
  2. Once done, reconnect it manually to the network.
  3. Proceed by adding it to the Nest app to complete the set-up.

For the Nest Thermostat 2020 model:

  1. Go to Settings > Factory Reset > Confirm.
    1. This will allow you to reset it to default settings and set it up on your own.
  2. Once refreshed, proceed with the setup through the Google Home app and follow the prompt.

Let me know if that helps.

Regards,
Mark

Hello KS5,

I appreciate your effort in posting on this thread about the set-up issue you're experiencing with your thermostat. Let's sort this out!

A few questions: is this a new installation? Did it ever work after the installation? Also, can you give these steps a whirl?

  1. Make sure that the thermostat is on and is working with the setup prompt.
  2. Inspect that all wires are properly connected and tabs are pushed down.
  3. Open the Google Home app.
  4. Create a new home structure.
  5. Proceed by adding your thermostat to the app.

Let me know if that works.

Regards,
Mark
