Hybrid system dual fuel ( Hot + Cold ) wiring support

hello,

i recently purchased a Nest Thermostat + Nest connector to replace my thermostat. I have a Hybrid dual fuel (Gas + Heat Pump) heating + cooling hvac. Using the app I was able to connect the equipment and got the heating system to work. However Nest does not recognize the cooling capability of my hvac.

Available wires are R, W, Y and G at the board and connected to RC (+ jumper to RH), W/B, Y/0 and G respectively.

New installation with Nest;

Nest thermostat W wire directly to W, G direct to G

Nest connector Y to Y and R to R. Output C, R, Y to the thermostat.

thanks to let me know how I can get Nest Thermostat  to recognize the cooling function

Hello MuNster,

It sounds like you've made some progress in getting your Nest Thermostat set up with the heating function but are encountering issues with the cooling capability. Here are a few steps you can try to help Nest recognize the cooling function:

  1. Double-check the wiring connections on both the Nest Thermostat and the Nest Connector. It seems like you've correctly connected W, G, Y, and R wires, but ensure there are no loose connections or mix-ups.
  2. In the Nest app, go to the settings for your thermostat and check the configuration. Ensure that the thermostat settings reflect your specific HVAC system.
    1. You might need to specify that you have a dual fuel system with both gas and a heat pump.
  3. If the issue persists, try resetting the Nest Thermostat and reconfiguring it. This can sometimes resolve communication issues. Follow the Nest app instructions or refer to the user manual for information on how to perform a reset.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mark
