I want all my Nest thermostats powered by 12V or 24V AC

Hi together

In a post of Nest-Expert CoolingWizard I found: "Nest thermostat that works with 12VAC is the one that comes with the Nest Heat Link used in Europe"

I am in Europe but my thermostat is only equipped with a USB-port for power. Do I need another base plate?

Many thanks for any hints

Alois

This had to be a typo. Please link to the post I will edit it. Nest only works with 24VAC.

Thanks for reply. The question was not 12VAC or 24VAC.

Belive me, my NEST Thermostat type=PA6W8D is only delivered with a USB 5VDC connector.

But you know, the thermostat consists of 2 parts: The main part with the turning ring and a base plate to fix on the wall. I expect that different base plates exist for different power supplies. Am I really wrong?

By the way it would be really helpful, if it would be possible toMain_unit.jpgBase_plate_with_USB-connector.jpg

@Alois , the microUSB port on back of the Nest Display allows for charging the internal lithium battery. We recommend that you charge the battery for 24 hours using this method before installing it on the wall. Once it’s on the wall, the nest thermostat takes to 24 V AC power coming from the equipment and uses that to keep the battery charged. That oval shaped gray 20-pin connector at the bottom is where the Nest Display connects to the backplate and thus to the thermostat wires.
