Import to Nest App?

I finally convinced my grandma to get a Nest thermostat because I told her how great the (Nest) app was. I installed it yesterday and it said I had to use Google Home to complete installation. Did so and it’s still not showing up in the Nest app, yes using the same google account. How do I import it or get it to show up in the Nest app? The Google Home app is absolute trash and I will not force her to use it. Please help so I don’t have to uninstall and return the Nest.

Remove the tstat from the home app and reset it. Use the home account to sign up for a nest account in the nest app. Power up the tstat and use the add device function in the nest app. FYI Google is shutting down the Nest app in 2022. All devices and functionality will move to the Home app.
