I inserted a pin into the hole at the bottom of the Nest Thermostat thinking I needed to do this — like with the Nest Hello — to remove the thermostat device from the wall to change the batteries.
The device will not power on. I’ve tried removing the batteries, waiting several minutes and reinserting them, but I have had no luck getting the device to power back on.
when trying to manually add the device back to my home, it cannot be found.
Anyone else experience a similar issue and have any idea on how to resolve?

Hey Bseidle,
Thanks for posting and I'm sorry to hear about your thermostat.
Just to confirm, you have the new Nest Thermostat with the mirrored display, right? If yes, did you use high-quality 1.5 V AAA alkaline batteries from a known manufacturer? Also, did you push the thermostat display back onto the base until it clicks into place?

Hey there,
Got it — when and where did you buy this Nest Thermostat? What country are you in? Also, is this the new Nest Thermostat with the mirrored display?

Hi Melba,
I bought a new thermostat. If I would have waited for the replies/support for my query I would have had a heatstroke by now!
