Nest Thermostat - Wire Not Detected

osborneb3
Community Member

Having a "W-Not Detected" issue on a new install. The heat pump (orange) from original thermostat was connected to the W/OB and I have attached it to the "OB" on the Nest and the white wire that was connected to the W2/Aux on prior thermostat is attached to the "W" on the Nest.

Any Suggestions? The AC is kicking on, but the blower/fan does not appear to be functioning properly. Should the white and the orange be switched?

Hey osborneb3,

Thanks for the photos and for reaching out to the Google Nest Community.

It seems that you have a dual fuel system. This is sometimes called a hybrid or packaged system which is a combination of a heat pump for primary heating and cooling, and a furnace (usually gas or oil) that provides a second and/or third stage of heating.

If you do, you will need to have a trained professional set up your thermostat. It’s important for a professional to assess the requirements for your specific dual fuel configuration since choosing incorrect options for a dual fuel system can result in damage to your system. Please contact a local pro.
