My system has one HVAC unit but two thermostats. The first thermostat ONLY controls the cooling (for the WHOLE house). The second thermostat ONLY controls the heating (for the WHOLE house). Is Nest compatible with this design?

Hi j3e8n0902,
Thanks for reaching out. Google Nest thermostats are usually compatible with zoned systems that use multiple thermostats, including zoned systems with dampers. However, some zoned systems that require thermostat damper control aren’t compatible with Nest thermostats, while other zoned systems may need a C or common wire, or the Nest Power Connector, to be compatible.
Thanks,
Edward

Hi - thanks for reaching out. I’m not sure I have a zoned system. My understanding is that a zoned system is where you have the ability to set different settings for different parts of the house at the same time. Is that correct? That is not what I have. What I have is an old system that has two thermostats. One thermostat in the upper hallway that controls only the cooling, but for the entire house. There’s another thermostat in the lower hallway that controls the heating for the entire house. When the cooling temperature is set, it applies to the entire house. When the heating temperature is set, it applies to the entire house. I’m not sure what would happen if I set both thermostats to overlap though. Either way, I’m not sure what you call this type of system and I’m not sure if it would be compatible with the nest

HI j3e8n0902,
Thanks for the response. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share the make and model of your HVAC system?
Thanks,
Edward

There are a few different labels so here goes: inside system/unit alumacoil model CAPT3743C4AA; outside unit/system: Goodman manufacturing MODEL ASX160371AB. The branding label says Amana

Hey there,
I wanted to check in and see if I could be of any help. Do you mind me asking if you have an older gas furnace built into the wall or the floor? If not, I am showing both systems would be compatible using our compatibility checker. Please let me know if you have any questions from here, as I would be happy to assist, and answer any you may have.
Best regards,
Jake

Hi Jake, I do have a gas system but I do NOT have a gas furnace built into the wall or floor. All I have is regular heating and cooling vents located on the wall about 6(?) inches from the ground. If Nest is compatible with my system, how can I find someone who knows how to install it based on my specific system?
