Is my 13 yr old Robert Shaw thermostat compatible with Nest Learning?

Current wiring configuration is G-O-B-Y1-W1 -R-C. The C wire is bare copper.  Is this compatible with my Nest Learning thermostat?  How do I connect too many wires?

Hi KatyMac,

Thanks for reaching out to us. To better check for the compatibility of your thermostat wires with our Nest Thermostats, can you send me a photo of your thermostat wires connected to the current thermostat that you have? Also, if the C-wire that you have is just bare copper, I highly suggest you have it covered in a rubber or plastic coating called insulation or electrical tape.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi there KatyMac,

Thanks for getting back to us. Where are you posting us from? North America or Europe? Also, I see here that you have a heat pump system with C-wire. Since the O and B wires are separated, it doesn't clearly show which wire should be used to operate your heat pump. In this case, please also help me with the photo of your HVAC control board where the other end of the thermostat wires are connected.

Best regards,

Zoe

Hi - I do still need help and have responded to Dan with a question about locating my HVAC Control board to photograph.

Hey KatyMac,

Mostly, it is located in the basement, attic, or garage. This system is responsible for heating and cooling your home and comfort controls.

Best,

Jenelyn
