Trying to get my new nest installed today. But the compatibility check said to send a picture. Am I good to go to install my Nest?

Hello ricodeniro,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

Your thermostat's wiring setup is Nest-compatible. But to be sure of its configuration, is this a heat pump system or a conventional unit with a second stage of heating? If so, below is a wiring setup to follow:

For the conventional system:

  • Brown wire > W2/Aux terminal (2nd-stage heating/auxiliary heat)
  • Red wire > R/Rc terminal (power)
  • White wire > W/W1 terminal (heating)
  • Yellow wire > Y/Y1 terminal (cooling)
  • Green wire > G terminal (fan)
  • Blue wire > C terminal (24-volt common wire)

For a heat pump system:

  • Brown wire > W2/Aux terminal (2nd-stage heating/auxiliary heat)
  • Red wire > R/Rc terminal (power)
  • White wire > O/B terminal (heat pump)
  • Yellow wire > Y/Y1 terminal (cooling)
  • Green wire > G terminal (fan)
  • Blue wire > C terminal (24-volt common wire)

Let me know if you have more questions about the configuration.

Regards,
Mark

How do I know if I have a heat pump?

Hi there,

Your system make and model could help you identify if you have a conventional or a heat pump system. You can search for its manual online using its make and model. Another way is by turning on your thermostat to heat mode to run your heating system, if your exterior unit is on and blowing air, you have a heat pump system.

I appreciate the help, Mark.

Best,

Jenelyn
