Is my Thermostat Compatible with Nest Thermostat

Pmoto

I purchased the Nest Thermostat, but when walking through the steps of wiring it said it's not compatible. It's not a very old system (house built in 2008). Any advice? Thank you!

Hi Pmoto,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. It looks like you have a conventional system which is compatible with Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E. If you prefer to have the Nest Thermostat 2020, you must have a C wire for common or a Nest Power Connector.

Could you please confirm if your system is a high voltage system or low voltage? Try to do the compatibility checker again and disregard the black wire that is connected to the RH terminal since Nest Thermostat isn't using any jumper wires.

Please check this guide:

  • Y/Y1 - Yellow (Cooling)
  • W/W1 - White (Heating)
  • G/G1 - Green (Fan)
  • RC - Red (Power)

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn
