Is my thermostat compatible

 i want to get a nest system, but not sure if my thermostat is compatible

Unfortunately your current thermostat is not compatible with the Nest.

Do I have any options moving forward? Would it be a case of getting a new thermostat or an electrician?

Your current thermostat is either controlling a Ductless Mini split, or a high voltage system.  Depending on what system you actually have, you would probably have to have a new thermostat cable ran from from the equipment to the thermostat location. But before this decision can be made, or I can help you, I need to know the make and model of the equipment that the thermostat is controlling
