Is my thermostat system compatible for a Nest

BevanFN

I am wondering if my old thermostat/system is compatible to be replaced by a Google Nest. Low voltage White-rodgers thermostat. It has W, RH, B, RC, G, O, Y connections. A jump wire from RH to RC was connected. B and I are not connected to anything. Thank you

It should be compatible depending on model. However you do not have a C (common) wire currently in use. In some cases it is required for a Nest Thermostat. You may need to use one of the spare wires (typically blue) to connect C at both the HVAC unit and thermostat.

You can also use the Compatibility Checker to verify if your system will work with a Nest Thermostat and to get more information.

Do you know if the Blue wire is connected to anything at the hvac system?   You will need a Common (C) wire from the hvac system and that is usually the Blue wire.    Other than that wiring issue, yes, that would be compatible with a Nest.

From what I can tell in the picture you must have a straight cool system with electric heating. Nest should work with no issues. hard to tell from the picture but is the blue wire terminated on the C post of the thermostat? When you wire the Nest you do not need a jumper between the RC & RH post. That's automatically connected internally with the Nest. Just FYI, G(green) is your blower, Y(yellow) is your cooling, W(white is your heating, and R(red) is your power from transformer If Blue is on the C post, that is your common to the transformer.

Your current thermostat is compatible with any of the Nest thermostats.

Try this wiring,

White - W to W1 or W

Red - RC to Rc or R (jumper to RH not needed)

Green - G to G

Yellow - Y to Y1 or Y

As others have said, I would suggest using the blue wire as a C wire. Look on the control board in the furnace and see if there is a C terminal. It will probably have one wire on it, just add the Blue wire to the terminal and then connect it to the C terminal at the thermostat,
