Is my wiring compatible? Current Trane thermostat has only 3 wires connected ( red, blue and green) but there is white and yellow extra wires available.

Hey Mahesh159,
Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community.
Could you share a clear photo of your current thermostat showing the terminal labels where these wires are connected to so I could take a closer look? Also, what system do you have?
Best,
Melba

Hi Mahesh159,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community and for including the photo of your thermostat wiring.
Based on the photo, it looks like the wire labels aren't the same as the Nest Thermostat. If you're going to use the Online Compatibility Checker, it will show you that it is not compatible with the Nest Thermostat because of the different wiring labels. However, we could still take another chance by looking at the main terminal block on your HVAC unit and check where are those wire connected to. By then, we'll be able to further tell if it is compatible or not.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,
Ryan

Hey there,
Checking back in — have you had the chance to check on your HVAC's control board to confirm where your current thermostat wires are connected to?
Best,
Melba

Hi,
what exactly would you need to identify? I am not sure. Picture of HVAC control board?

Hi Mahesh159,
Thanks for the response. If you have access to the control board of your HVAC, please share a photo showing the terminals where the other end of your wires are connected to.
Thanks,

Hi Mahesh159,
I'm sorry for the late reply. I wanted to ensure everything is covered here and see how I could help.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. By any chance, do you have a picture of your system's control board showing where the wires from your thermostat are connected to? This is to determine if the 2 bare wires are being used and to tell which terminals we should connect them to the Nest thermostat. Also, do you have a dehumidifier?
Looking forward for your response.
Best regards,
Mark

Hi there,
It's me again. Thanks for sharing the picture of your control board. That helps!
Based on the configuration, it appears that you have a heat pump type system. Your system may still be compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat. However, with the current wire set up from your thermostat, you might need to contact the HVAC technician or your contractor for the installation to reconfigure it.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.
Best regards,
Mark
