Do I need the Nest Power Connector ?

You do not need a Nest Power Connector. At your air handler, take the blue wire that is wrapped around the brown thermostat cable and connect to the C terminal. Then Attach the blue wire at your thermostat to the C terminal.

The lower transformer, the one with the Red and the White wire attached, is most likely your power for your GENERALAir. This transformer might need to be replaced.

To test your cooling, with the power turned off to your air handler, place a wire jumper from the R terminal to Y terminal. Turn the power on, and your AC should be running.  If the outdoor unit does not turn on, you have a system failure and you need a call an HVAC service company.
