Learning nest, app says it’s offline. There is a small red blinking light

I have the thermostat sat for heat and air. I noticed when I approached the stat it didn’t light up. I checked the app and it says, the thermostat is offline. I tried to troubleshoot with no success. The troubleshooting advice said if a red light was on, this means the battery was charging. And it would come on when it was charged. I have only had the thermostat installed since March of this year. I paid for technician installation. The thermostat has been offline for seven hours. Any suggestions?

Hello folks,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this.

@Ebonnehoney, power-related issues could cause the Nest Thermostat to drain its battery until it disables some of its smart features in order to save power. When a Red LED light blinks, it means that its battery level is too low. Try charging the thermostat display for an hour using a USB charger. Then, inspect that all wires are properly connected and tabs are pushed down. Lastly, please gather its power readouts in the Technical Info settings and check for any wiring reports or message codes that might cause a power issue.

@rxonfire2, can you share your support ID number so we can see how it went through?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark

Hey there,

I don't want to be a nudge, but I'd like to check if you were able to get your thermostat working. Feel free to reach back if you still need help.

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark, yes I tried to troubleshoot the problem. The thermostat kept disconnecting from my network. The flashing red light would come back on after charging it. The thermostat was installed in April this year. I should not be experiencing these problems.  I reported the problems and Google support sent me a replacement thermostat. Fingers crossed, this one will work correctly.

regards

Hi Ebonnehoney,

Awesome! I'm glad to hear we were able to have it replaced for you. I'm sure it would work as intended, but if anything comes up, feel free to create a new thread so we can check what the reasons might be.

Regards,
Mark
