I bought a home that already has a nest thermostat.    How do I connect with it?

@Pinnard

First, make sure the previous owner or resident has removed the device from their Google account in the Google Home app and has performed a factory reset, per these instructions:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11151047?hl=en#zippy=%2Cnest-thermostat-nest-doorbell-b...

Then use these instructions to install the thermostat in the Google Nest app or the Google Home as appropriate:

What if I can't contact the previous owner?

@Sosjohn

You could try contacting Google Nest Support and ask them to override their controls so you can set up the thermostat:
