Hello 🙂 Just moved into our first home that has a Nest learning thermostat and a heat link. The heat link is on and is pulsing blue to connect but every time I try to connect it I always get the H71 error code (failed to connect to heat link). I have tried everything in regards to restarting, resetting, moving the thermostat closer to the heat link etc and nothing seems to work. After speaking with support they suggested I buy a new heat link but there was never any issue previously with the last owners and when we had tested it.
I am also unable to link it to the nest app as I can’t get past the set up to get the entry code.
Please can someone help 😞

Let's give Google support a cheer shall we for their full help in your situation, and suggesting spending MORE money out on a Google product!! Well done support, perhaps a little more help to a user next time.
Anyway......I expect you have searched this forum for an answer, and come up blank?
Lets start from the setup, and I don't know how many times I have added this information to the forum. First find the 6 digit code on your Heat Link. That will be by the screw on the cover, And on the left hand wall fixing screw inside the cover. Make sure they BOTH numbers match.
Nest, go to your H/L and press the button and keep pressed do NOT release for a good 35-40 seconds. Ignor any pulsing lights before then, just keep presssed. You should see at the 35-40 seconds the light will pulse blue, when that heppens you can release the button. Do that TWICE.
Now go to your Display, and under Tech on the H71 screen look under Heat Link, does that 6 digit number match with the number you have made on not of fromthe H/L?
Next, press the display against the wall and keep pressed until you see the little house come back on, then release. You should then either go back to the H71 screen, if not follow the instructions until you get back there.
Now at the H71 screen click ''Replace Heat Link'', and follow the instructions. See if that works!
The app will not work yet as the setup has not paired, so you have nothing to link to yet. Just follow the instructions on the screen, and you could set that up at the end or on the way.
Let us know if that works at all.

Hi frustrated,
Thank you for your reply. I have tried this multiple times and repeated strictly following your advice again and still no success.
I have attempted turning off appliances/router and bringing thermostat closer etc and still no luck.
I think I either need to get an electrician out or get a new heat link…

I assume you have set the heat link as I mentioned for the 40 seconds?
Your system is it wired or wireless? What I mean is, do you have a power cable coming from the heat link to the display, or do you have the display on a stand and get power from a usb source?
Im pretty sure the heat link is ok if you have a blue pulsing light.
