My 3rd Generation Nest Thermostat has w5 error and can't see any Wi-Fi connections

I have a 3rd Generations Nest Thermostat with the W5 Error. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps (including Factory  Reset) with no luck.  Love the thermostat but lost connection out of the blue. After searching the forum I found there might be a possible "wi-fi" chip automatic software update the locked it up.  Would love it if Google could help me get this fixed. Anyone else have any luck here?
