So as I said in the title my thermostat is reading indoor temp to be 106. Problem is that it's winter so it's not 106 of course and it won't trigger the heater at 76 the way i need it to. If I remove it from the wall the temp drops and I can put it back to get about 3-5 minutes of heat before it's back up at 106. It's the best with the mirror front if that helps. And it was working just fine. I have already factory reset it but no luck. Any suggestions? BESIDES THROWING MONEY AT IT? I just bought the thing in September.

you could also check to see if your a/c compressor is running at the same time as your furnace...

see this thread linked below
my nest was doing something similar and I ended up having to replace it. there was a short in the back plate or in the thermostat itself that made the A/C and the furnace try to run at the same time, causing the unit itself to heat up (throwing the ambient temp sensor off since it was reading the temp of the unit, not the air) you can try taking the temp of the thermostat using a laser thermometer like what you use for reading your forehead and if it is higher than the ambient, you'll know where the problem is coming from. (try just placing your hand on the face of the thermostat for a quick and dirty test)
If it's still under warranty, I would try and get it swapped.
Just my 2 cents.

Thank you. I'm going to check all your suggestions out and I'll come back and let you know how it went. It might be the furnace and the ac thing because the thermostat continues to read the temp when removing ed from the wall and it starts to drop instantly. So maybe that it's. We'll see. Thanks again
