My remote sensor reads 32F

I just bought a new nest thermostat.  It was bundled with a remote sensor. I installed it using the QR code, but it reads 32 degrees F all the time. I took out the battery and put it back in- no difference,

Is it defective?

Hey jvermilyea,

I am sorry for the late reply. I wanted to reach out, and see if you still needed any help with the sensor? Please let me know, as I would be glad to help out.

Best regards,

I’m getting an Ecobee next time after all the time I’ve put into trying to get the sensor to work.

Here an idea, make it WiFi and plug it into an outlet

Had the same issue, I called the support line and they walked me through it.

steps

take battery out of the sensor

remove sensor if displaying on the app

then log out of the app completely

log back into app

Insert battery

then add new product

scan qr

and follow install instructions

i had three sensors that were not reconnecting correctly and it worked like a charm

please note I had to follow the steps every time for each sensor I added

Hello all,  thanks for the tips as I was suffering through the 0°C/32°F issue myself.  The above reset/delete/ add process worked the only other thing that slowed me down was my home WiFi broadcast on both a 2.4 & 5.0 GHZ and my cell auto picks up the 5 G so wouldn't let the sensor connect until I realized and switched my phone to the 2.4 G connection.

Cheers
