N260 Error and wiring guidance

Since installing my Nest thermostat (Gen 1) I've had the N260 Error. It wasn't really much of a problem the first month or two because the weather didn't warrant the heat and cooling to turn on.

But recently as it has gotten warmer, I installed a Power Connector in hopes of preventing any future issues.

I have an AC/forced heat system with no C wire. So the control panel has 4 wires for the thermostat and 2 wires from the compressor. None of them were labeled but I wired the new Nest and Power Connector based on the old thermostat wiring.

My phone has since been stolen so I no longer have an old photo of the wiring for reference but the cooling and heating isn't working as intended. On days when it should be cooling, it runs the boiler and blows warm air. And nights I toggle the system off at the thermostat, it runs the cooling all night. The N260 error hasn't gone away either so I'm almost certain it's a wiring issue.

Is there a wiring guidance for how I can troubleshoot my own wiring?

Hello LarryC210,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

The message report means that the thermostat needs a Common wire to provide additional power. To better understand this, could you please share with us a photo of your current thermostat's wiring and a clear photo of how you installed your Nest Power Connector from your HVAC system control board?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
