N260 error code after installing power connector

Installing Nest Thermostat received a message to install C wire or power connector.   Ordered and installed power connector.   System appears to operate however I cannot get rid of the N260 error code.   Explicitly followed installation instructions, rechecking wiring.  Did a restart.  Did a reset.   Tried running power connector test - But then when I go to power status it says “Power test not run g.co/nest/m25”.

I only have two wires - Red and White.   (Heat only forced air furnace).  No 'board' in the system, only wires that are connected to the thermostat  wire(s) with nuts.   Removed nuts and put the attached wires in one slot, the power connector in the other.

Have exactly the same problem and tried all of the same solutions.

See response from dwoodacre. I've ordered an external power source which should fix the problem.  Don't waste your time contacting Google support. They are of no help.   Good luck!

Hello there,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused. It appears that the thermostat receives low power. But this report is fixable with the proper installation of the Nest Power Connector.

I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of how you installed the Nest Power Connector, showing the terminals from your system? Also, here are some references to help you install your Nest Power Connector on your HVAC system:

Please let me know if that helps, or if the issue still persists.

Thanks,

Mark

From the instructions, I believe I have the power connector installed. This site will not let me upload a photo of the wiring but this is the diagram provided by the manufacturer of my heating system for adding a Nest thermostat. I have a two wire boiler only system. Just the H in HVAC.

Hello Pspence,

Thanks for sharing the manual. Big help! But for us to determine how the Nest Power Connector is being labeled, it would be helpful if it were possible to upload a picture here by clicking the camera icon to insert photos. Also, if it was installed by an installer, I would suggest reaching out to them to reinstall it properly.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Best,

Mark

dI think this should work. This is what the wiring looks like. IMG_0275.jpg

Hi there,

Thanks for the picture of how you installed your Nest Power Connector. Let's sort this out.

To isolate:

  • Restart your thermostat by removing the batteries for at least 2 minutes.
  • Run a power test on the thermostat from Settings > Equipment > Power Connector > Power Test.
  • Activate the terminal of the undetected wire(s). Examples:
    • If the Nest thermostat doesn’t detect the W or Y wire, set the thermostat to heat or cool mode and set the target temperature.
    • If the Nest thermostat doesn’t detect the G wire, set the thermostat to fan mode.

Please let me know if that helps, or if the issue still persists.

Best,

Mark
