NEST Thermostat Technical Issues (Heat Pump)

Issue: My NEST Gen 3 thermostat was setup by the previous homeowner incorrectly (it appears). I live in a remote area which its hard to get help so I can't just hire a NEST pro sadly. It was setup as a dual fuel system with alt. heat, when in reality that is not the case (my system is all electric). While it does appear to work in this setup, when outside temperatures drop below 30 degrees, my outside unit (compressor & fan) would sometimes shut down and I would only get heat from the air blowing through the heat strips inside my air handler. I think this was due to the "use alt heat when outside temp is below" setting in NEST.

Action Taken: I reset my NEST thermostat to try and re-configure it as a single fuel system, but now when I go to configure it as a single fuel system, it blocks me from doing so stating that I must use PRO mode to setup my dual fuel system.... But I do not have a dual fuel system.

Equipment

1. Carrier FV4CNF005L00 air handler (2 stage apparently - I think)

2. Bryant Heat Pump 226ANA060-C (2 stage apparently - I think)

Questions:

1. Can please anyone advise how to setup my NEST thermostat correctly as a single fuel 2 stage electric forced air system with heat pump.
