Wanting to see what proper wiring should be. Going from a Honeywell thermostat on our Trane Heat Pump system. Wiring is shown in picture for our existing Honeywell. Thought I had wiring right on Nest but could ever get cold AC to work.

Give this a try
Black - E to * (set as Emergency heat)
White - AUX to W2/AUX (set as AUX heat)
Orange - O/B to OB
Blue - C to C
Yellow - Y to Y1
Red - R to Rc (jumper to Rc not needed)

That’s how I originally set it up and it would throw anything other than heat. Was giving heat regardless if I had it to cool or heat.

Give this a try,
If your system starts to blow cool air when your Nest thermostat is in Heat mode (or if it blows warm air when its in Cool mode), change the settings for orientation of your heat pump.

Tried this and still only blows hot air

You are going to need to look and see how the terminal block on the control board in the furnace/air handler is wired. That brown wire that is just hanging there is bothering me.
Try connecting the Red, Yellow, and green wires together and see if it blows cool air, if it doesn't, add the orange wire. If it still doesn't then you might have a problem with your system
Be sure to power off your system before messing with the wires.

Will give it a try. The system works with the Honeywell thermostat. Just wanting to use the nest to lock our daughter out of changing it.

Hey folks,
Thanks for lending a hand, Patrick_Caezza.
Priusux, I'm jumping in to ensure everything is good here. Have you had the chance to try Patrick's suggestion already? If yes, how is your thermostat now?
Best,
Melba

I have not had a chance to try it yet. Not sure how I am going to get multiple wires into one of the holes on the nest as one wire barely fits

Hey there,
Sorry for the confusion — you shouldn't place multiple wires into one terminal slot. It should only be one wire per terminal. However, what Patrick's suggestion is as follows:

Hey Priusux,
It's me again — how's it going now? Still need our help?
