That isn’t THE category but no other applicable options! Just spent a bunch of time googling & searching google communities for Nest series 1 posts. I did find a Google 7-8 page Getting Started doc that doesn’t address my question. Other than that, all I can find is links to series 3, E & Learning Nest all mixed together, IOW needle in a haystack results on series 1. Whatever happened to “refined searches” returning real viable results? Or maybe this series is 100% obsolete & all published info was scrubbed from the web?
WHAT & WHERE: I’ve had my series 1 about 18 mo on a new heat pump in the hot (& cold) AZ desert. Used the app successfully several times for scheduling & set up of custom temp presets as the climate swings 112-hot to 28-cold here & also for Eco assist during absences.
QUESTION: It’s worked fine but wanted to find some documentation or discussion on how to fine tune temp WHILE I have the Nest set on my usual schedules 24/7.
EXAMPLE: Older or medically fragile family coming to visit & my 66 degree norm via schedule will freeze them out. How can I do a simple boost of temp up to 72 for an hour or too in the app? I know I can do it by tapping the thermostat & doing manually (used that). But if not home & need to boost in the app, can I do that? Or do I have to create & reschedule a warmer “Boost” preset & then fiddle with times of my existing normal preset in place in order to make a time to insert a short period of a specially made Boost preset for 1-2 hours of heating? Meaning I’d also have to then re-make my normal schedules for that day when the visit & need for 72 degrees is over? Or is there a way to SIMPLY turn up heat for an hour or 2 in the app? Hard to believe something this simple - can you bump up heat in app as well as manually on the thermostat? - is not outlined in online documentation or in prior forum feedback here or elsewhere on the web.
If anyone has links to share of collected tips, settings, options on how to optimally use all features of for series 1 Nest, I’ll be very grateful for them. Typically my research skills get me every answer, especially as a seeker, more than most want to learn…. just a dead end on the Nest conundrum 😬
Thanks for reading & for any helpful feedback.

Hi Katlee,
Thanks for posting and sorry for the delay.
You can create a schedule with the temperature set when you have other people coming in so that you don't have to worry about the Nest Thermostat when you're away. You could also control your thermostat's temperature through the app as well.
Check these links for more details:
Keep us posted.
Best,
Mel
