Need help wiring Nest.  Current thermostat l:  Blue=C, White=R, and red connected to port called Data.  Not typical wiring config.  No other wires are used.  Replacing a Honeywell.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to our community! I'm more than happy to take a look at your HVAC wiring.

While you do have an R and C wire, wire labels such as 1, 2, 3, and 4 indicate a proprietary system. Proprietary systems usually only work with thermostats made by the same manufacturer. But some proprietary systems may also have the option to use standard heating system wires. We'd suggest contacting a local pro and have them check if your proprietary system can be rewired to be Nest compatible.

My apologies that I can't provide a more clear-cut answer, but I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions for us.

I don’t see where you attach basically the wires to the base of the thermostat

Hey Jaws,

Thanks for chiming in here. This thread was migrated from the old version of the Google Nest Community which was already answered by Ai, one of our Community Specialists but we've not received further replies from the original poster.

Do you have the same system as the photo posted above and needs help with the wiring configuration?
