Nest 3rd Gen Keeps Restarting

taylorandy04

Just bought a new Nest.

I hooked up the unit with my existing wiring (no c-wire) and the unit would reboot continuously.  The next morning I had a low battery warning and surmised it must be because of the missing c-wire.  I routed a new 5 wire thermostat wire (adding the c-wire) yesterday and hooked everything up and did a full factory reset on the Nest unit.

The unit no longer has a low battery warning but it is still rebooting constantly.  The software version is up to date as well.  Everything seems to work, except the constant rebooting which is very annoying.

What else can I do to fix this issue?

I am having the rebooting issue. It only reboots only if I touch/press the thermostat. If I leave it alone it works perfectly fine & is good through the app. Would like to know how to fix this if possible.

Hello Rory12,

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat draining its battery. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

A few questions: can you help me gather its power readouts in the Technical Info settings? Check for any power reports or message codes in its settings. Does it have a C-wire installed? Also, for how long have you been using it?

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Mark
