Nest 3rd Gen - Not responding properly - App works

My Nest 3rd Gen thermostat is acting up when using the actual thermostat.  The responsiveness when turning the dial or pressing on it is very glitchy, and regularly prompts what appears to be a reboot - with the Google logo - just by turning the dial or pressing on it.   The battery level looks ok.  The system works flawlessly via the iOS app - no issues, no rebooting, etc., the issue is solely related to trying to use/adjust the settings on the physical thermostat.  Any suggestions?

Did you receive any solutions?  My nest is doing the same thing

They replaced my thermostat. The new one works great
