Nest 3rd gen learning thermostat

I’m absolutely fit to be tied.  Nowhere in any of the literature provided by nest does it state that a nest thermostat uses more power than a traditional thermostat. I install the thermostat just fine spent two hours on the phone with tech-support kept getting an error that either said E 73 or E74 all depending on whether it was a the R H or RC connection. Uploaded photos of what I had done and from the old one to the new one was told everything was fine. Then the guy had me disconnect the C wire and of course the thing broke so I ended up having to move the thermostat so that I could move the blue wire closer to the C port.  The tech was nice enough and had me doing all kinds of different stuff moving wirs, restating my furnace etc nothing worked and basically after two hours I was told that a fuse probably blew in my air conditioner so now I have no AC and a nonworking thermostat. I am not happy

Hi Ctg,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Could you share the case number of your interaction with our team so we could investigate further?

Thanks,

Edward

Sadly I was not given a case number. I had to call back the following day to follow up in the app and for that I was given a cae number, however that had nothing to do with the initial issue. Thankfully it was just a blown furnace fuse and an HVAC company replaced it on Wednesday. All of the issues with the installation and the fuse happened Monday late afternoon.
I believe I dated in my initial post that the rep told me these thermostats use more more than older NON SMART thermostats, it would be nice to know that ahead of time so one could potentially install the thermostat when one already has an appointment for example an HVAC tune up.

Hi Ctg,

Thanks for the response. I'm glad to know that the fuse was already replaced. The Nest Thermostat 3rd gen voltage requirement is  20 to 30 V AC. You can also click on this link to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward
