Nest App shows thermostat off line after power is restored

JimTucker

With power restored after an outage the Nest app is showing the thermostat off line.  The modem and router show they are connected in the providers app and the providers app shows the Nest Thermostat is connected to the router.  I have made sure the Nest app is updated and the thermostat is wired to the C terminal to ensure the battery is powered when power is on.  With all this I'm still getting the off line message on the Nest app.  This is the second time in a row after power loss that this has happened.  The Nest app reconnected after 12+ hours after power was restored the first time it happened.  Any solutions or advice?

If you haven't already, I would try rebooting both the Nest and your router.  For the Nest, this may depend on which model you have.  See https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247296?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid#zippy=%2Crese... and  https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247296   .  For your router, unplug, wait 15 seconds for the capacitors to drain, replug.  (Actually, I'd do the router first and see if that works, as there's no danger of it erasing settings or anything like that.)
