I purchase two Nest Aware thermostats in April. I installed them using the directions provided. I kept getting emails saying they were not getting proper power. I ordered the external C-wire power connector. The directions to connect the C-wire kept saying "call a technician to connect" which would have cost me hundreds of dollars. I kept trying for weeks to get a technician to call me back to help me connect it myself. Finally got one on the phone. I followed the directions of the technician to connect the C wire to my heating system, on the phone with a nest technician. I was only able to connect one thermostat because the technician said my heating system needed some kind of external patch blah blah blah (I am not an electrician, though apparently you have to be on e to own these devices) The day after I connected one thermostat correctly (the thermostat said it was now receiving power) , my heating electrical panel started blinking and making a loud clicking noise. It sounded like the house was going to catch on fire, so I turned it off and now I want to return these frustrating and useless devices and get a refund. Of course now it is past my return window.

Hello Vermillion,
Uh oh! Thank you for taking the time to let us know about the loud clicking noise you heard from your HVAC system. I'd love to know more about this.
Power-related concerns such as incorrect wiring or wiring configuration appears to be the issue after the C wire installation. Have you tried reaching back to the installer? How's it going? Also, please check your thermostats power readouts in the Equipment settings or in the Technical Info.
Regards,
Mark

I did the installation myself because my electrician didn’t want to deal with it and because I didn’t want to spend $300 to install a $30 thermostat. After two months of calling and beibg bounced around between Nest, Nest Aware (which is actually inexplicably not part of Nest), and Google I got a Nest technician to walk me through it and did myself. It was all set up correctly and the thermostat said the power was working correctly. Then the next day it started clicking so I took the C wire connector off. I am beyond done with this.
