Nest Compatability - Do I need C wire connection?

Marie10
Community Member

Can I connect a Nest with my current wiring (Model LuxPro PSP511a/PSP511La)?

I currently have G (green wire), Y (yellow wire), W (white wire), and RH (red wire)

With a black jumper between RH and RC

I DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A C WIRE. DO I NEED ONE?

We have gas forced heat and A/C compressor.

Thank you.

Hi Marie10,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. Fortunately, your thermostat wires are compatible with our Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and Nest Thermostat E and should be wired to their bases as shown:

Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation:

Nest Thermostat E:

You don't have to install the jumper wire in the Nest Thermostat. Also, here's a guide for the installation and setup of the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and Nest Thermostat E.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Zoe
