Nest -E 1st gen usage issue

We have a lake house with Nest thermostat. We love the fact that besides having aided in reducing our energy costs, we are able to walk into a comfortable home after our long drive.

Unfortunately the last guest that was there somehow managed to adjust the thermostat to a much cooler (68*) by removing its WiFi connection.
How can I prevent this from happening again? (other than screening all guest’s knowledge of Nest WiFi) ANY Advice will be greatly appreciated 🔆

Hi LkLuvrAnnon,

Thanks for posting in the community! Sorry to hear that the temperature on your Nest Thermostat was changed without your permission. No worries, help is here! To prevent unauthorized temperature changes, you can Lock your Nest Thermostat with a PIN code. This feature allows you to set a temperature range and lock it, ensuring only authorized users can adjust it.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Axel.

Thanks so much for your reply.
4 days after my post I went to the house to dissect the situation. After 3 hours of checking every thing I could think of, ️the WiFi connection had the answer.. The thermostat was altered by  reprogramming it to a different (neighbor) internet connection ; Although the accessability for temperature control remained available at the house,  I was locked out due to No Internet connection because of that program change.

After correcting the problem and setting the PIN code (found the Locking feature during the hunt for answers ) I was still dumbfounded by the audacity of the act of reprogramming and intrigued by the genius of it as well.

Kudos to the engineers who had the forethought of including the locking feature and saving me from sleepless nights!
