Nest E Wiring Issue

SmashvilleMatt
Community Member

Hi,

I bought 2 Nest E thermostats to replace my 2 old thermostats in a house I just bought. I checked the wiring for downstairs and was compatible so I bought 2. Unfortunately, the upstairs wiring is different from the downstairs wiring and now I'm blowing hot air upstairs instead of cold.

Based on googling PNs, this is my upstairs attic unit: https://www.alpinehomeair.com/product/air-handlers-electric-furnaces/standard-ducted-air-handlers/mu...

Its Gas and Electric and I've attached pics.

Can somebody help me out?image_50446593.JPGimage_50402817.JPG

Hi @SmashvilleMatt,

Thank you very much for all the information you share in this community! Regarding this situation, I apologize that you are experiencing issues with your Nest Thermostat E where only one is compatible with the wiring downstairs, but the one upstairs is not compatible because it blows hot air instead of cold. I am here to help you.
I would like to ask you a few questions to provide you with the appropriate information.
  • Could you send a photo of how the wires are connected in the control board?
  • When you call for cooling and hot air comes out, do you see any error codes?
  • Who installed the thermostat?
  • When was the thermostat installed?

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,

Eduardo

I got it working. I had to go into the pro setup and change the B to O.

Hi @SmashvilleMatt,

Thank you very much for this confirmation that your Nest Thermostat E is working as expected when you switched the orientation from B to O. If you have any questions or any other issues, please do not hesitate to contact this community.

Best regards,

Eduardo
