Nest E doesn't see WiFi (after 7 years in storage)

I found brand new Nest E in a box (forgot about it) that was bought about 7 years ago. So it never received any updates since manufacturing.

Connected to the R+W so I have power and equipment is detect. Fully charged battery and Voltage on the input about 30v.

The WiFi is the problem - the "searching" wheel is spinning forever and, when I type in the network/pwd, I receive an instant response "Failed to connect". The WiFi router is located 2ft from the thermostat.

I've done all kinds of resets, including "reset to factory settings"

  What am I missing?  Thanks

Maybe it depends on whether the 7-year-old firmware in your thermostat can communicate correctly with the current version of the Google Nest app just to get through the install and update the firmware.

Perhaps it would be worth contacting Support about this:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
