Nest E thermostat display stuck on G logo

Brand new Nest E thermostat installed today, was working for about 2 hours and then the display went blank. Turning the dial/outer rim and no display, can't get into the system.  Then the app on the phone showed "offline".  I tried removing the thermostat hub and placing it back on the wall, I tried holding the rim down for 10 seconds and then pressing it once to restart and still it only stays stuck on the G logo.  I also tried disonnecting my router and reconnecting it -- all other things in the house are connected to wifi.  So my A/C system is off line, the nest E is stuck on the G logo.  HELP.

Hello sharkbasso,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.

I appreciate all the steps you've taken to reboot your Nest Thermostat. Please make sure that all wires are properly inserted. The connector button should stay in the pressed-down state on any connectors that have wires in them; remove the wire and check the tip. If the tip has corrosion, is bent, or has less than 1/3 inch of copper exposed, straighten and/or re-strip the end of the wire. Press the connector button and re-insert the wire. Push the wire in as far as it goes. Make sure the button stays in a pressed-down state. This indicates that the customer properly seated the wire.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hey there,

I'm checking back in — how's it going? Have you managed to try the steps above? Did that help?

Best,

Mark
