I’m in the setup loop :
Hi all,
I have a Nest Thermostat E that I’ve been using for several months. I purchased a temperature sensor for my upstairs bedroom, so I can get the temperature readings that I need when I’m in my room.
When I try to install the Nest Temperature Sensor, it tells me I need to set it up in the Nest App and directs me to add my Thermostat. When I try to add the Thermostat to the Nest app, it sends me back to the Home app.
I double checked my Amazon receipt - it definitely claims my thermostat is a Nest E Pro. It even recommended this specific temperature sensor. I’m using the same email account for both the nest app and the google home app.
How do I get out of this loop?
Thanks!

@Patrick_Caezza- I I read one of your previous responses. From what I have read, everyone says Nest E is compatible with Nest Temp sensors. You are saying that is incorrect, yes? If so, does the Nest E have a compatible temperature sensor? They are sold on Amazon as a package deal.

The only time I can remember saying the Nest THermsotat E was incompatible with the Nest Temperature sensor was when I talked about the UK/Europe version.
The Google Nest THermostat is also not compatible with them.
You'll know if you have an E by it being all white, a white frosted display.
If you have to set up your thermostat in the Google Home App, then you have the Google Nest Thermostat, which isn't compatible.

@Patrick_Caezza this is good news then. From what I can tell, I have a non UK/Europe version of the Nest E. But, now I still can’t connect it to my temperature sensor. Is there a difference between the Nest E and the Nest E Pro where the temperature sensor compatibility is concerned?
My setup puts me in an endless loop between the Nest app and Google home app.
Thanks!

Hello folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for the help, @Patrick_Caezza.
@Kmoore222. the Nest Temperature Sensor is currently compatible with thermostats designed for use in one of the following countries:
As long as you purchase a compatible thermostat from a retailer in one of the countries listed above, it should work with the sensor. To clarify, which type of Nest Thermostat E did you have?
I'll look forward to your response.

Mark

Hi Mark,
I purchased it on Amazon and it claimed to be the T4001ES but it arrived as the one with the mirror finish. I think it was probably mis-labeled. I’ve asked for a refund so I can get the “real” Nest E. Am I correct in assuming the one with the mirror finish is not compatible?
Thanks!

You are correct. The one you received is the Google Nest Thermostat which is a basic thermostat that doesn't support the temperature sensors
