Nest Gen3 started heating in the summer while in off mode

It's been working fine for a few years [new Dec 2016].  2 months ago during the summer the heat came on even when the Nest was in the off mode.  Had to disconnect the Nest from the furnace [problem was the Nest, not the furnace].  Rebooting the Nest didn't help.  No error codes.  Eventually did a full reset and that seemed to fix it.  But stuck on is a nasty failure mode if I'm not at home.  Any ideas?  Thx-George

Hi Jake; thank you for the follow up.  It hasn't happened again, so I suppose it's resolved, but that's not to say it won't happen again.  Not a problem if I'm home, but if not, it could be a big problem since there's no fail-safe to turn the furnace off and the house would cook.

Glad to hear everything is working properly once again. Just to be on the safe side, I would recommend double-checking to see if your thermostat was running off a schedule. If the issue does come up again, please reach back out, so I can look into it further for you.
