Hi Google community
My Nest thermostat has not been working for about a year now - have had to put the Heat Link onto Manual for heating but not good with the cold winter coming up. Here is the current situation:
Nest Thermostat worked for many years for me. Then I had a flood in the bathroom and to dry out the house I put heating up for 3 days straight (using Nest APP). Then ever since then there appears to be this problem.
So ive had a replacement thermostat sent out by Google. This did not have any effect and the same problems.
Whats happening:
Ive finally located the problem is due to the Heat Link.
When Heat Link is turned on then it automatically turns the heating on whatever the Thermostat says.
There is a hard wire connection between Thermostat and Heat Link but no wireless connection - Thermostat is downstairs and Heat Link is upstairs next to boiler.
When i test the Heat Link I get error code t06.
Ive tried EVERYTHING to fix this:
Factory reset on Thermostat and on Heat Link - no changes.
Heat Link lights are always GREEN showing they are connected to thermostat and heating and hot water is always on. If I turn off the Heat Link to manual mode then there is a click after 10 seconds and the boiler turns off as well.
I just need my thermostat working again and nobody can seem to solve it despite me asking plumbers out.
It seems to be a Heat Link software of hardware issue. Maybe its just faulty and need a new Heat Link as all wiring connections seem to be ok - and the boiler valve IS working when the Heat Link tells it to.
Or is there a way to get a software update to the Heat Link?

OK, well there is your first issue on the Heat Link reset!
You need to search THIS forum, as I cannot remember how many times I have gone through this! see below in red
How did you reset the Heat Link? Your exact method.
I found online how to do two times 20 seconds reset on the Heat Link. I did this and it turned blue flashing dot for a few minutes and then eventually turned GREEN when it was confirmed connected to the Thermostat,
First make sure you display is turned down to about 10 degrees.
Reset Like This....... Press the H/L button for OVER 40 seconds, and keep pressed do NOT release until you get a blue pulsing light. Do that twice.
DO NOT RELEASE THE BUTTON until the 40 seconds even when it pulses. Then release when tou see a good pulse.
Now turn the thermostat dial up and that should turn the H/L light green. With luck just one green light.

We had best go from the start.
How did you reset the Heat Link? Your exact method.
Upload a clear picture of the Heat Link connections under the lid.
You say, When I test the Heat Link I get error code t06 -[How are you testing to get this code?}
By the way has anyone checked the motorised valve?????
You say.......... and the boiler valve IS working when the Heat Link tells it to.
This will work if the Heat Link is manual mosed, but if faulty not via the thermostat!!!!
I take it this has been checked then, and NOT just assumed?

Hi Frustrateddd!! thanks for trying to help and look into it. Ive attached the photos below. To answer your questions:

This is coming from a Test on the Thermostat but I think its just a general error code. Its giving that same error code while the Thermostat is off (11 degrees setting) and the Heat Link and radiators are actually on.

Yes I had a plumber come in and check the valve assuming it was that. And they said it is fine so the only thing left is the Heat Link.
Basically the Heat Link is always on GREEN HEATING light whatever the thermostat says. I cant get a Wireless link due to the distance but the Heat Link is simply not responding to the thermostat at all despite it clearly having a good Wired Link
Thanks for any other ideas I can try out. Very frustrated

Amazing that this seems to have done the trick. I did read on the community that it was required for 2 times 20 seconds and got the blue pulsing light.
Now doing it for 2 times 40 seconds and it seems to have completely reset as it should and is responding to the Thermostat.
Happy days thank you so much!! Gonna be warm this winter. Much kudos to you sir

That time only restarts the H/L not resets it. Like I say the amount of times I have informed people is 1000.ssssss!!! I would also try wireless connection as well as it responds quicker.
Good old Google for helping you out with a new display, and support - I think NOT!!!!
By the way. your next job is to sort the wiring out, as from looking at your picture, if you do not use the cable clamp the cables could get pulled out.
