Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen can’t see WI-FI

My Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen stopped connecting to WI-FI since last couple of days. I did all the usual troubleshooting, reset all, uninstall, blah blah blah. Did not resolved.
I resorted to installing my old Nest Learning 2nd gen and it was able to find Wi-Fi and connect.
What’s going on with 3rd gen thermostat? Did Google broke this with their last software update?

How do you get a replacement for the Nest.  I have the same issue, first no WiFi, then it will not even power up.  I have two units and have swapped around and this one unit is just dead.

How long is the warranty on these units? I think I am past my first year.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with connecting your Nest Thermostat to your Wifi. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • Are you getting any messages when your Nest Thermostat stops searching for your WIfi?
  • How far is it from your router?
  • Have you tried manually putting in the Wifi name and password?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi Edward,

Thank you for the follow up.

In my case, the Nest just cannot find the wifi network. I have four Nest thermostats and this one is the closest to the router. All the other three can find it. I tried entering the name manually and still doesn't work.

I think the thermostat has completely lost the ability to detect and connect to any wi-fi networks.

Hope you can help resolve this issue.

Thanks,

Ash

Hi Akdfw1,

Thanks for the response. Are there any messages when it stops looking for the network? Also, to isolate the issue, could you try enabling the hotspot on your phone and check if your Nest Thermostat could detect it?

Thanks,

Edward

Hi Edward,

The Nest unit cannot detect any wi-Fi networks, including my cellphone hotspot.
