Had my Learning Thermostat for a few years. 2 weeks ago, during the heavy California rain (not sure if it is related) my Nest was unresponsive and saw that it was offline for a few hours but had a blinking green light. Got on the web and tried to reset and even called customer service. Did all the stuff they told me to do, but still Nest was unresponsive. Thought of getting another thermostat and placed an order. Left the Nest plugged into the wall and after a day later it started working again. Yay! Did a reset as a precaution. Returned the new thermostat. And now it is back again with blinking green light and being offline. What is going on? It has power and I did a reset. I checked the last software update was on April 2022.

Hi Nang,
Thanks for posting.
A blinking green light near the top of your Nest thermostat’s display means that it’s updating the software, starting up, or restarting. Typically, this will only last a minute or two. Once your thermostat has finished starting up, it'll turn on so you can use it.
If the light blinks green and your thermostat is unresponsive for more than 15 minutes, it may have frozen during the update.
Keep me posted.
Best,
Mel

Hi Jake,
Yes, I saw Mel's post. My Nest Learning Thermostat started working again after like 12 hours after it was frozen. Looks like a software update was done last April 2022. This has been it's 2nd time being frozen and working after half a day. I am glad it worked after leaving it alone. What can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again.
