Hi
I have just moved into a house which has a Nest Learning Thermostat.
The thermostat has been factory reset by the previous owners, so I have been trying to set it up from there. I am in the setup process and have successfully connected to our home wifi, but I can't get the thermostat to connect to the Heat Link. The thermostat is on a stand, and it won't connect even when I put it right next to the Heat Link.
The light on the Heat Link is flashing blue and seems ready to pair.
I have restarted the Nest by pressing it in for 10 seconds, but when it reboots, it never goes back to the main menu, which would be helpful. It always returns to where I was in the setup process, so I am stuck in a loop.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks
Richard

Restarting the display will not reset the thermostat, so forget that for now.
You need to get some information first before we go to far.
The display is it showing an error screen ie H71?
Answer yes, go to Tech - Heat Link - then make a note of the 6 digit code
Next - Reset the Heat Link by pressing and keep pressed for at least 40 seconds, the light will pulse blue, ignore anything previous to that, you must get to the 40 seconds ish. - Do that twice.
Now at the display click Replace Heat Link. Follow the instructions on the screen and enter the 6 digit code you made a note of.
Should that not work, then we might have to go to the next stage. - Try that first

Hi.
Many thanks for your reply! Yes I was getting the h71 error screen. I have tried what you suggested and it seems as though I have now been able to connect the thermostat to the Heat Link. I have been trying things out to see if it works properly - eg scheduling heating to come on and off - but the system is not working 100% how I expected. Am monitoring to see what happens overnight when there will be a larger change in temperature. That said, this is significant progress from where I was 3 hours ago! Many thanks. I will keep you posted.
