Nest Learning thermostat 3rd fails to connect to Wi-Fi

I have two Nest thermostats, and both of them used to work perfectly fine. However, a few days ago, one of them failed to connect to Wi-Fi. Strangely, the other one continues to work without any problems.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

• Resetting the problematic thermostat
• Restoring it to factory default settings

Despite these efforts, the Wi-Fi connectivity issue persists. I’m not sure what else to do, and I’d really appreciate any suggestions or troubleshooting steps you can provide.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with their Nest thermostat? If so, how did you resolve it? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries; we'll check this out. Just to check: Are there any changes in your WiFi network settings? Are you getting any error messages on the Nest thermostat display? Have you tried connecting the Nest to a mobile hotspot?

Hello Edmond,

Thank you for your suggestions. Here's what I did based on your advice:

1. Reset the WiFi Settings: I went to the Nest thermostat settings and chose to reset the network. Unfortunately, it still couldn't connect afterward. Even after restoring it to its factory default settings, the problem persists.
2. Power Cycle: I turned off the thermostat for a couple of minutes and powered it back on, but this didn't seem to change the situation.
3. Software Updates: Without a WiFi connection, I'm unable to check if any software updates are available for the Nest.
4. Distance from Router: I attempted to bring the router right next to my Nest, but it still couldn't detect any networks.
5. Connect Another Device: I successfully connected my phone to the same WiFi and also to the mobile hotspot, confirming that both networks are active and functional.
6. Mobile Hotspot: I tried connecting the Nest to a mobile hotspot, but it was stuck on 'Searching - No networks found yet'. I waited for ten minutes, but no networks showed up.

Given these steps, it seems I might be facing a hardware or deeper software issue with the Nest. Do you have any other suggestions before I reach out to Nest's support?
