Nest Learning thermostat not connecting to WiFi

After 2 yrs of working without issues now one of the thermostats won’t connect to WiFi. I have done all the necessary troubleshooting and can’t resolve the issue.

Same here. What a piece of junk. This is my second warranty replacement in 9 months, this one just a month ago. The first two replacements were for the infamous W5 error (known defect in the WiFi chips). Now this one suddenly it lost the WiFi connection again and won’t charge. Even for 6 hours on USB it’s just flashing white, never steady. Plug it back in anyway and lo and behold, no charging. It shows the common wire attached (which it was before, no problems there). This is junk. It’s hot and humid as heck in the house and this is the last Google Nest thermostat I will buy. After 6 of them in three houses that worked fine. They have screwed it up in the last year and won’t admit it.

Hi @Craigcnelson

I'm really sorry that you are having this type of issue with your Nest Learning Thermostat while trying to connect it to a Wifi network, I would like to have more information about this so we can help you further.

  • Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
  • Can your other devices find your Wi-Fi network name (SSID)?
  • Do you only have one Wi-Fi network, or are there others?
  • Are you trying to connect to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network?
  • How far away is the thermostat from the router?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat?
  • Can you find any wifi network in the thermostat display?

As soon as I get the information I'll be more than glad to do a follow up and work with you to find a solution.

All the best,

Josh
