I've had my nest therm. installed for over a year. I've never had any issues with it going offline until the beginning of July. I've restarted the Nest, my router, I've plugged the Nest into the wall to charge (used the charging card option), I've checked all the wiring and breakers, removed and reinstalled the app on my iPhone, nothing is locked, everything still works manually. It goes offline about every 3-4 days. I do run the fan a lot instead of letting the air conditioner run all the time. Why is my thermostat, all of a sudden, doing this?

There’s no need to add another transformer your system already has a trans that can power up the nest you just need an extra wire.
no need for Rc since you’re already connected to R which is good enough for that model of nest.
You might have some extra wires wrapped up inside the wall with the existing set of wiring that are not connected to anything and if that’s the case you can use that wire to connect to C on the nest but also needs to be connected to C at the furnace or air handler circuit board.
If you don’t have or can’t pull extra wires you can always use the green wire that’s connected to G on nest and at furnace / air handler board and connect it to C on nest and at circuit board but you’d need to use a small jumper wire and connect G & Y at the board so the fan can come on when AC is on. you’d lose the option to run fan only on the nest. Hope that helps. Always make sure equipment is disconnected before attempting any wiring that makes contact between C and other wiring like R can result in shorting out your existing transformer or fuse link.

If no C connected to nest could be losing power Or went bad good luck

I've been reading about the C wire and I'm thinking about a 24v transformer adapter. However, before purchasing, would you happen to know how I'd connect it? The picture shows by wire options on my Nest. I have a C but my R is occupied and there isn't an Rc.

I had this issue, and restarting the thermostat fixed it initially. Most times, once the thermostat restarted, I would have to manually enter my wifi information though, as it wouldn't find any networks. However today, I got the dreaded "nest.com/w5" error message, meaning it will never, ever find any wifi networks again. If you're to that point, you will have to contact Google Nest help after going through the w5 error steps to see if you can fix the problem yourself (doubt you can). I used the chat feature, and was told a replacement needed to be ordered. Once I return the defective unit, the hold they put on my gpay card will fall off. The best part is, the new thermostat will not be able to access anything the defective one did over the past 8 months, so it will be starting over. I guess these things aren't as smart as advertised. I am hoping this will not keep happening every 8 months, and that they look at how many people are experiencing the w5 error, and try to fix the wifi chip/card in the thermostats.
Here's a link to the error page, and contact information for Google Nest.
